Despite all the preparation by parents, the first visit to the dentist is new and unfamiliar for every child. That's why in the children's dental world we always take small steps to introduce your child to the new environment. The primary goal of the first appointment is to build trust and, in consultation with the parents, to determine the appropriate type of treatment. No treatment will be carried out at the first appointment, only an examination will take place (except for emergency treatments). In some cases, a “photo” of the jaw (X-ray) is useful at the first appointment. The overview photo is used to analyze tooth development and rule out diseases. The detailed photo provides early information about diseases in children with caries, especially if the surfaces between the teeth cannot be seen.
